Reseting my laptop to factory settings

Backing up my computer today. I have to reset my Vaio back to factory settings as advised by support. The touch pad has got a very bad disease of erratic mouse movements, freezing and cursor jumping whilst typing. I hope after resetting this will solve the problem, Plus Importantly i hope i don’t loose any data!!
